O Coy Supports the IDCCC

By Lt Coville-Primeau

This summer, Oscar Coy (O Coy) was tasked to support the Tactics School during the annual conduct of the Infantry Dismounted Company Commanders Course (IDCCC) from 06-19 Aug 2011.

In order to adequately prepare for the course, O Coy spent the two weeks prior to the start date conducting work up training. During those two weeks they progressed from basic soldier skills to platoon and company level operations. Having surpassed the required state of readiness to make this course possible, they deployed to the Petawawa training area for the duration of the course.

During the exercise O Coy completed numerous company level attacks and incorporated day and night missions using simunition and air mobile concepts. For two weeks, the company would often be completing 5 company attacks a day on a 10km trace then moving into a hide or returning to the FOB at night, allowing them to roll into battle procedure for the next day's operations.

By the end of the IDCCC, O Coy had not only created the optimal conditions for the candidates to receive the training they required, but had also set themselves up for success in preparation for the upcoming deployment to Wainwright.
